Promoting your eBid store offine

Does anybody here have any experience with promoting their eBid stores offline?

I'm not talking about putting flyers in your FeeBay sales, here... more like actual advertising in trade publications (like a line classified ad in a coin magazine if you sell coins, for example). OR, alternately, doing an actual direct mailing (snail mail) to your existing customer base to announce your store?

I print my own calling cards and tend to drop them all over the place ie public bathrooms, dentist, doctor, bowling alley, free advertising boards, a bunch to my family to spread out wherever they can etc.

Somebody used to advertise their store in a magazine a few years back as far as I remember it worked well for them, I think they sold postcards, but it could have been stamps.

I promote the theatre group fundraising shop in our programmes and flyers that we hand out at performances - thats all celeb autographs, and posters and odds&ends... (and we have advertising space for sale for our August programmes as well, on ebid, hehe)

I always have a laod of flyers in the car and always give out to anyone I meet.
I also give ebay keyrings out to the general publci.
It works well.
We also mail out to perpective new customers.

We make keyrings for promotion.

We have made a keyring with the ebid logo on one side and our shop Link on the other.

It depends on the Management if they allow me to offer the service to sell and add other ebid members shopslinks.
We produce 100's of keyrings for people who want small quanties with their details on. (Personalised)
This has really worked for us, and we always put one in any item we sell on here or on the other side.
We also give away at our craft fairs.
People love FREEBIES.
