Almost forgot to tell you my amusing story from Bayeux market today.... This very sweet older French lady said to us that she could tell we were English from our accent (kind of her not to mention the c**p French I thought!) and where in the UK were we from? So I told her I was born and bred in Brighton. She said she knows Brighton very well as her sister, who married an English soldier after the débarquement, lives in Seaford and her niece lives in Hove. She then went on to tell me that another sister married a Canadian soldier and went to live there.

So I said - two sisters married to soldiers? Did you find an English soldier to marry too? With what, I can only describe as a lovely twinkle in her eye and great comedy timing, she replied "My mother wouldn't let me - I was only eleven at the time!!" Ooooops

Lol I can imagine a slight flush coming on there Corporal Pipeau. As for Quentin I should imagine it would have been au naturel if it was a life drawing class !

Just editing to say maybe we should get Private Gillam back to give us some art lessons as we wouldn't have to pay for a model as we have Private Ntings !

That's right red and blue stamps and I remember the girl next door had a printing set like the one Private Cats mentioned which I played with whenever I went round to play. A little bit later Spirograph was invented and that kept me occupied for ages ! Like you Lieutenant Maplegin I was by myself as my brother was ten years older than me so he had left home by the time I was six.

good morning!Lots of clouds and still very dark, so maybe more rain today. I am feeling miserable, as Clive has passed on his cold and I have a sore throat and everything aches. I expect I won't be going anywhere today except back to bed. I have made some coffee though and a pot of green tea. I'll just go and see if there are any relists to be done...

    Morning

More rain in the night so my pots won't need watering again. I swear the lilies have grown another 12 inches over night

I have a pile of books on my desk that I am going to attempt to list today ..................... wish me luck!
