What is going ON?

Earlier, I heard a politician making a statement - one that totally bamboozled me and I can't get my head around it - to the effect that the UK is borrowing £400 MILLION PER DAY! Yet this government is sending BILLIONS out of the country in AID! Could somebody PLEASE tell me how this works? I'm not professing to be a whizz at finance but how in holy hell can the books possibly balance with all that money being BORROWED (£145,000,000,000 (BILLION) per year - NOT INCLUDING INTEREST) and STILL the UK contributes Aid to countries which, quite frankly, don't actually NEED it?

At a risk of repeating myself, if a country can afford to run it's own space progamme and build nuclear weapons, then they can afford to look after their own people! I'm all for helping people in need but to hell with this. The infrastructure of the UK is falling apart because of immigration/asylum seekers and the like, people are being taxed to the hilt, the indigenous population of the UK is suffering "austerity measures" yet the borders are STILL open to immigration - which means MORE handouts - and the UK is borrowing that HUGE sum each day? What the hell is going on? I don't get it, I really and truly don't. And I'm a reasonably intelligent person!

If someone can enlighten me, I'll be a happy wummin!

Join the club, the same thing is going on here and has been for some time. Sorry if this offends anyone, but, IMHO, we need to take care of the home folks first.

Pretty funny isn't it, we are all borrowing from one another to pay our debts to the other, big going around in circles.

When people say that banks are too big to be allowed to fail, do they realise that the entire economy of the western world reached that stage years ago? We are bankrupt in all but name - but the consequences of calling in the debts means the total collapse of society as we know it and nobody wins from that.

It's all very frustrating. We are a giving nation but sometimes we have to stop for a while. Just like in our personal lives, if we can't afford something we have to save up otherwise we just get into deeper debt.

Why didn't Mr G Brown put money aside during the good times instead of spend, spend, spend. AND selling the family silver to boot! Grrrr.

Just think 13 years ago this country owed nobody anything.Believe you me Labour WANTED to lose the last election as they wanted someone else to get all the flack.With a last 2 fingers to us they signed us up with the EU.
