Thread: Promoting ebid.net

    Lightbulb Promoting ebid.net

Trying to keep a positive attitude here, but it is a little difficult. Seems to me all of us little people are promoting away. Unfortunately we need to be getting several thousand new members a day not 500 to 800, to ever be competitive with anyone. Personally, I think it is time someone in the upper deck of ebid.net needs to do some advertising to get sellers over here while the time is ripe.

Also I recently was informed ebid has been around as long as the darkside. If this is true the business plan here needs to be checked, how come ebid hasn't grown by leaps and bounds in 10 years. Unless the bjusiness plan is to jsut be a small enterprise and not to worry about making money but strictly for entertainment purposes or hobby, something like that.

Do a search of the forums for this topic and you will find dozens of threads all saying much the same. It has been discussed to death time and time again.

    I agree with you Hazeleyes.

We do need to be getting well over a thousand new members a day.
As you say we are averaging around 500 a day since I have been on ebid (15 months)
That is great, but its going to take another ten years to get even 2 million.

Its obvious that ebid's owners don't have the desire or funds to advertise in mainstream media.

    So we have 4 choices
1 Give up and stick with ebay and get screwed more and more
2 Keep promoting as best we can
3 Start our own advertising campaign - I like the car bumper sticker idea
4 Start a campaign for all members to start buying more from ebid members.

    Two other things.
I think ebid is going to grow a lot more now that we are being recognised more in the USA and of course for most of ebids existance it has been UK based with 60 million people - now we are being exposed to 300 million people.

Secondly what should be on ebid ?
It seems to me to be mainly collectibles and vintage and books and CD's and DVD's etc

Should there be more day to day items on here like technology, stationary, photography, new clothes, t shirts, homeware ?

I guess we need to keep discussing it until the management takes a good look at themselves. It is unfair to all of us working so hard, to have no support from management. Sorry to be redundant, but sometimes reduandancy is needed. I was absolutely flabergasted when someone pointed out to me how long ebid has been around and not made much progress and the darkside is over the milllions and millions. I don't know what the answer is, but I do know a couple hundred new people a day isn't going to come close to being competitive even with google search, etc. It is discouraging to say the least.

Also since I live in a free country I am entitled to speak my mind even if a thousand peopler before me have said the same thing.

Good luck to all with your sales.

eBid has been in the UK, for nearly as long as eBay, it has only been actively promoting in the USA for about 3 years.

I can't be bothered to re type out my last posts from the last thread on this subject,
    so.

plus of course the other 194 posts on the thread.

The second link has links to posts by Gazza, about eBid.
So many people assume that eBid is a massive company with loads of money in the bank,
& that Gazza & Mark are too tight, to spend any money advertising, maybe if you read the links you will understand.

    Or maybe NOT!

Or until they agree with everything you say and do what you tell them to? Perhaps you should take the time to research the facts before deciding what management should or shouldn't do.

Sure, you have that right. Just as all those who have either seen this topic so many, many times before, or those who took the time to use the search function to read all the relevant information, have the right not to bother wasting their time by responding to your latest resurrection of a dead topic.

Hazeleyes just made a good point that somehow 'we" need to be adding more than 500 new members a day to get to some sort of critical mass.

It seems we have been adding 500 members a day for several years now.

We are getting close to one million members.
How long should we wait till we get to say 2 million members ?

I agree that nationwide mainstream advertising is out of the question.

Since most of us in the US were not members in 2007 do you all feel that we should go back in the forums to 2007 to read them to see what Gazza and the other guy had to say? This is 2011 and all of us are working very hard to get eBids name out there and to be told this is a dead horse was all discussed before does not tell us any thing and I do not have the time to read all the forum posts back to 2007 to see what they had to say.

We all want eBid to succeed because that means that WE succeed also, so I guess we are pretty selfish to come on here and work our little fingers to the bone trying to get buyers and sellers over here not knowing what Gazza said in 2007? This to me would be like reading yet another book by James Mitchner and 7 books of his are all I can manage. Done with that

I advertise, I email, I social network just like everyone else and we have paid our fees and maybe have a right to ask questions. Most all the answers I have seen on this subject is that we do not own eBid Gazza does, and Gazza knows more about this then we do. Alls I know is that we all work hard and being angry at us for wanting answers to questions that truly affect our lives should be no reason to be short with us.

We have no place else to turn to because of Ebays practices, unreasonable fees and overbearing polices we are fighting for our lives here and deserve to be treated with consideration and not curtness

We certainly do not want to loose the buyers and sellers that we do have because we do not want to read forum post from the beginning of eBid UK. I have copied the links to what Gazza says and will post them when ever I see some one ask about eBid and there advertising.

    OK just sayin
