Thread: Advertising your stores on Craigslist

  1. #1

Exclamation Advertising your stores on Craigslist

I just did it, and I am so impressed. I was able to copy and paste 4 pics straight from my computer, and the links bring the visitor directly to my stores each, whereas on Google it will only show in search. Too bad I can't do this nationwide (I don't think), but locally only.

    Did I say it's FREE?

I do that also. I think it may do some good because I have had a couple of people sign up from here. Be sure to include your Buddy Link. Everytime I list I add whatever I'm listing and let it ride for about a week and then delete it.

Oh boy, Buddy Link. I didn't think about it. Will do, right now.

    Big thanx

It's against their terms of service

If caught, the penalty could be up to a stern email

Really? What is exactly against the TOS? I didn't add the Buddy Link yet. Is placing a link to the stores on CL against eBid policy? Or is it the Buddy Link?

Here's an excerpt from eBid terms of service:
Alternatively, you can use your own Buddy Link URL and add this to your email signatures, forum signatures, your own website, blogs etc. Each person who clicks on the link and joins eBid will earn you Buddy Points.

It's my understanding that CL falls under the "etc."

I have found the forum members on Craigslist a nasty mean hateful rude group of people. I would only use it for some thing that has to be picked up.

Oh my. I actually advertised my stuff for the local pickup, providing of course that they pay through eBid and PayPal, and then we'll meet and I'll deliver the item. It's all for the local pickup when I will have to waive the shipping cost. If any takers, I will arrange to meet at a local police station.

I am NOT trying to avoid the fees, only promote my stores and hopefully earn a positive feedback.

I understand it's perfectly legal (from eBid standpoint) to advertise on Facebook, Twitter, LiveJournal, now what's wrong with Craigslist?

I just wonder what exactly is against the eBid terms?

terry means it's against CL policy to advertise items with links to auction sites.

Ah that's fine. As long as its not against eBid policies.

Anyway, I can hardly find my ad. It's buried under a ton of the others. I guess this is what you get for free.

I really don't care much for the CL. Although I read their policies through & through.

I've had some success with CL, people who have purchased from me have been genuinely nice, and polite.
Everything I sell is inspected, picked up, and paid for in cash.
The idiotic messages I receive I just delete them.
Of course nothing I have listed on CL has anything to do with my items on ebid, just stuff I've had around the house for years.
One thing to keep in mind, any messages not pertaining to your offerings should not be answered on CL.
There are people trying to pick up email addresses for negative reasons.
I'll only answer an ad for someone who gives me their name, and location, a lot leave me their phone #s
As with everything else these days, use common sense.
