Thread: Selling on here?

  1. #1

    Default Selling on here?

Hi, I am (obviously) a new seller on here, and I am still figuring this site out. I have listed some items but it seems nobody has even viewed my items, let alone placed bids. Is this normal? I am/will be selling mostly clothes and toys, most second hand, some new/unused. Any pointers appreciated

Hi, welcome to Ebid, good to see a fellow seller from Essex!
It takes a bit of time to get established on Ebid so continue to list your items and frequent the boards as much as you can, use the tools available to you, plug your auctions thread and let as many people as you can that your selling on Ebid, show your support for the Ebid facebook page and ask for advice on the boards. There are many successful sellers on here, so take a look at different auctions and see where you can improve.
It takes time but its such a thrill when you make your first sale!

    Good Luck Dawn

Ebid has been going for 8 10 or 12 years and has nearly one million members and 4 million listings and is second or third on all the charts.
So they must be doing OK.

Some people sell things in their first week, others take months, others have not sold anything after a year.
But when we anaylise their listings we usually find some reason why they have not sold.

Work on your listings, add more and be patient, ebid is growing steadily and will save you lots of money.

When you get time add a photo and something about you and your selling policies in your About Me page.
(And could I suggest a photo of you, not a dog or a cat or a cartoon character)

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by plug my auctions thread? I have been selling on eBay for 4 years, but they have started suspending accounts, and my main ebay account was one of them - although I had 100% positive feedback, and I really don't know what I did wrong So I've come over here in the hope that it will be a friendlier place to sell. I want to move house in a year and I have so much to pass on to new homes before I do!

What tools do you mean also? I really have very little idea of what I'm doing on here :/

Hi Cathrine, I have come from Ebay also, although I do still sell on there, on the forum there is a 'Plug your auctions thread' you can post to members about your autions to drive traffic and hopefully a sale!
Give lots of detail in your listings and your about me page and I am a stong believer in providing good photos.
Sales can be slower on Ebid, but dont give up, keep listing and posting on the forums, members and customers view the forums!
I wish you lots of luck with your sales. Dawn

Hey out there =) Happy Easter! I thought I posted this response already but it must have got lost in cyber land.....
Dawn? I looked all over the forum page, including drop down menus, and I did'nt see the "plug auctions" option you were referring to. Could you possibly tell me exactly where that option is located on the forum page (ebid for dummies???) Also, I have put up a few listings and if anyone would like to look at them and offer up some constructive criticism or advice, I would really appreciate your feedback a-LAWUT. =) Thanx & take care.

The "Plug Your Auctions" thread is in the "Chat About Anything" section of the forum index. If you scroll down a bit, you'll see it.

You can have one thread going in the Plug section. Either bump up your old thread, or delete the old one and start a new message. Your thread can be bumped up every 24 hours. If you bump more frequently (either you or if someone else replies to it), or if you have more than one thread going, then your Plug messages may be pulled.

If you use the Administrative function you can lock your Plug thread so that no one else bumps it up.

    Welcome to eBid.

    :-)

The 'Plug Forum' is a sub-forum of the 'Chat About Anything Forum' which is at the bottom, under the various 'help' forums. If you're still looking, this link will take you right there
    http://www.ebid.net/forums/forumdisp...-your-Auctions

To keep things fair and give everyone a turn at the top, each member is limited to 1 plug thread and you're only allowed to add to it or 'bump' it once in any 24 hour period.
