Can't set custome auction start: "You are unable to set a start date in the past."

I'm relisting an unsold auction.

I set the custom date to about 2.5 hours in the future, but when I click on 'preview listing' I get a popup message saying:
"You are unable to set a start date in the past."

I checked one of my pages, "about me" I believe, and it does have me listed in the correct location, so I don't see how this can be a time-zone issue.

Can anyone help?

Does the time and date on your computer match that at the very bottom of the listing page (and most eBid pages)?

Hmm, no it doesn't. This site's time is 3 hours later. So what do I do about it?

Ahh, found the danged setting, finally, and changed my time zone to PST, with detect DST automatically chosen.

Sadly, this site now shows one hour behind. But I'm on the right track and I'll fuss with it until I get it right.
