Ebay will keep squeezing the smaller sellers but wont want to see the back of them completely because they need the variety the smaller sellers provide.
BUT and it's a very big BUT,Ebay have for years been able to trample all over the smaller seller and they might threaten to leave, some even do but creep back again later and there'll be all sorts of talk about boycott and strikes but eventually thgings settle down. But (this is where the BUT comes in) Sales on ebay are apalling now, they have choked off the buyers and sellers all over say that sales are slow, low and of course very unprofitable.Ebay might say different but their figures are flattered by paypals profits and creative accounting can prove just about anything.
Maybe, just maybe Ebay will find that this time, with sales low and unprofitable anyway, with increased costs from suppliers and services hitting their sellers hard andbeing in the middle of a truly massive and prolonged recession that choking off your customers no matter how small,is not a very good idea.
    The worms will turn,one day.

I know of a decent amount of fed up ebay sellers and/or buyers who have started here because of the latest ebay news. I'm one of them! There is also a facebook group called ebay alternatives-leaving FEEbay behind that has a few people from here on it (I think, THINK, I saw Juliebabe there). Anyone who wants to come and sing the praises of eBid, network with some new sellers/buyers, come check it out! There's only about 270 of us, but we're working on gathering more.

I think now IS the time to Advertise. the sellers will come over, but now would be the time to advertise to bring over the buyers as well.... just my opinion.

on a side note( just a little story i wanted to share..) right after the announcement of the fee hikes, and ebay pushing for free shipping.. A friend ( who hopefully will be coming over to sell here as well) decided ebay must be right.. free shipping is the way to go.. he posted a coleman lantern with a buy it now and free shipping ( of course adding the shipping into the cost of the item) .. no sale.. he relisted.. no sale.. we were talking about it, and he was confuse as to why it wasnt selling. I told him to lower the price and add shipping charges. so he lowered the price and added actual shipping charges which brought the price to the exact same amount of his original buy it now with free shipping. it sold in a day...

a little off the subject, but proof that feebay knows nothing about what buyers want

Is it simply a case of them wanting to have their cake and eat it? Do they want to rid themselves slowly of the type of seller they ultimately want rid of completely - while at the same time keeping enough on board to tide them over while they transform themselves?

Before long the bigger fish on eBay, who currently think eBay can do no wrong and praise it to the heavens, will find themselves the target of eBay's cull. The screams will be heard throughout the world.

The scenario brings to mind the poem that starts: First They Came For...
I think it is more to do with the fact that if they kicked them all off in one go then they would all go somewhere. Then they would have another contender to deal with. If they loose them in tricles rather than floods and keep hamering any of the alternatives with miss information, then the sellers either try to get back to ebay or fade away and give up.

But if they do not want that market any more why would they care if it moved elsewhere? They don't want that market back so another site taking it over would be doing them a favour. If anything they should be talking up the alternative sites.

They still appear to me to be trying to kill that sector on eBay by a thousand cuts rather than just severing it in one clean action.

I suppose it could simply be that, like most companies that grow to a certain size, megalomania have overtaken them.

Buy it Now doesnt matter how long you list it for. It may even sell within an hour.
