Thread: Anyone got a horizontal toaster?

  1. #1

Default Anyone got a horizontal toaster?

    I cant find one anywhere!!!
    Is there such a thing?

    Reason for wanting one.

I like cheese on toast, or cheese and tomatoes on toast.
However, I can never be bothered to turn on the grill and wait for it.

What is need is a horizontal toaster.

    Toast your bread.
Then flick a switch to go to ''toast one side only'' mode.
Put your toast back in with the cheese on top.

Hey presto! cheese on toast, welsh rarebit, garlic toast, etc etc.

    Would be real handy.

I will probably find that everyone already has one and they are available in every store in the country!

You could always use a toaster bag.

In fact there's some listed on here.

They would work for toasted cheese sandwich, but not for cheese on toast?

The cheese would stick to the bag surely?

What about a george forman lean mean grilling machine.?
I have the XL version and comes with extra feet so it's kept level rather than sloping. Simply keep the lid open and it will melt and heat the stuff on the bread.

I have a Lakeland Remoska. That would work admirably for cheese on toast.

Not worth buying just for that though

From what I recall, the odd blob did stick but very rarely.

You could always just lay your toaster on its side!

I make my toast as normal. Slice the cheese then melt it in the microwave. While the cheese is melting, you can add whatever you like. Chopped onion, peppers, salami etc. Works pretty well for me. Never seen a horizonal toaster, apart from
the ones in hotels - with a continuous rotating belt.
