    Before you go to the bother of working out any statistic you need to define what purpose the result would serve. I can't see that knowing the average number of listings per seller would serve any purpose.

    Yes knowing the exact average would be useless as it is now skewed by the fact that one member has a huge number of listings, which raises everyone's average.

    I think a better question for Bill is "what is the average number of listings the "average" ebid user has.

    And as Astral says I don't think that even if we knew the average number it would not help us in any way. (and I love stats)

    That's very easy to do

    4,003,057 listings divided by 866,989 members = 4.62 but quite a useless number
