Default I'm selling without trying ............. must do more!

Must admit that since setting up our own site I have neglected ebid a bit (although I sign on every day) but I'm still getting sales. 2 in 2 days this week - loads to list, must find time.

    Cheers, Phil

I have reached a listing impasse. Really can't be bothered.

However! The week before last, a very nice buyer bought twelve or thirteen Ladybird books from me! Lost count during the excitement

    Really must make more effort.

Little and often is the key - keep adding items. I have listed 3 new postcards. Devil's Bridge (Wales), Pickering (Yorkshire) and a nice black and white lighthouse postcard of Finistere in Brittany (northern France)

    from Bohemian:

Sounds good to me... and i'm getting the impression that a good sprinkling of lower priced items is helping some to make sales.

I think I'll try some lower priced listings myself.... - can't hurt .....

Despite what some people say, I don't think low price is always the key to sales. A couple weeks ago I sold my five most expensive items all to one person! I think sales have to do with having WHAT someone wants, at a GOOD PRICE FOR THE ITEM, and being a reliable Ebidder.

    Hello HerMajesty.......

The low price I had in mind was around the $2.50 to $7.50 range (Australian dollars) (1.50 to 4.50 GBP I think).

Whereas I was thinking medium price as $7.50 to around $50.00 (4.50 to around 30.00 GBP)
And high price above that again...

Is that sort of what you had in mind?

Like I said, I think the items are more important than the price. But I deal in vintage, one-off sorts of things, mostly. So if someone wants one, they will happily pay. I was referring to several boxes for artificial eyes that I sold......antique to vintage.

HOWEVER, if you are selling new, electronic, homecare, crafty items, then price becomes more of the issue, along with customer satisfaction, because there is more competition.

Yes.... there is definately more competition with electronic items, and since the same 'device' can be purchased in many different outlets - then I guess it's a buyer's market.
And yes, to have rare or unique items works in favor of the seller, (and they'll perhaps command a good price).

I suppose, at the moment, I'm thinking of trying to encourage sales, gain a track record and bolster my feedback. And I'm thinking that's possiblbly more likely to happen if I'm stocking affordable things... It's just my thoughts at the moment..... I've still got a lot to learn - to hit on the right 'formula'

High price / low price / a mix of both / to specialize / to diversify..... the list goes on... but in the end - it's probably like you say - it's having WHAT the customer wants and being a reliable, trustworthy seller.

I always look for things I need or want on here first. It pays to be a buyer as well as a seller.......it all helps the site, and therefore you, via recognition, feedback, and nice quality items!
