We encourage members to use their 'All About Me' page to provide as much information as possible to provide potential bidders/buyers with confidence. This may and can include contact information for eBid registered 'Business' users but should not include URL off site links. For eBid 'Individual' status registered users we would suggest that you provide as much information as possible but would strongly recommend that you do not provide direct contact information in this section.

    Best Wishes

I am interpreting this statement to mean you can not add a personal website link to "About Me Pages" :-(

Always easiest & safest to go directly to the decision making source & particularly when they are as responsive as the eBid Support Team. :-)
You see, classic eBid, bless their hearts. I'm *sure* they really only mean sites you can buy from, but they don't actually *say* that, so something intended to clarify the situation has muddied the waters. The stuff about providing contact information, and their differentiating between business and individual sellers is very helpful, but there's that kick in the small print just to keep us on our toes. By the way, it's interesting to see them making that distinction between business and individual, because it's not something that really happens very often.

Ummm - how do I stand then?

I have 5 external links on my About me page - to EACH, the charity I raise funds for in memory of my mother; the Fair Trader scheme; Kim's H2S; my Repatoo badge and my eBid buddy link .

I thought I also had a link to my own family history website, but not as yet.

See? Seriously, I don't for a second think they mean what they said! Just think of all the Repatoo badges that would have to go, for a start!

That would include live links to ANY e-commerce site, be it on auction pages OR All About Me pages...

The Repatoo Badge is approved by eBid. The eBid buddy link is internal to eBid. Have no knowledge concerning the other links, probably best to get eBid's imput if desired.

    That's how I interpreted it.

Personal websites that include e-commerce enabled links can generate income through buying else where. Their statements seem clear enough to me.

    Seriously! LOL
Repatoo badges are approved linkages by eBid as well as many other sites.

My E-commerce defo = any URL, website, blog, etc that has the ability to generate cash, dosh, etc directly (i.e. sale of products) or indirectly (external affiliate linkages)

That's the problem, non-standard definitions of ecommerce. Your version really stretches it. My version says "any site you can buy from". But neither really matter, it's ebid's version we need to know! And then we need them to stick to it.
