Thread: Will Paypal Protect Me ?

  1. #1

Question Will Paypal Protect Me ?

Will paypal protect me on ebid, in the same manner, as on ebay ? I am new to ebid and just signed up today. I don't have plans for selling really. But I do have over 500, 100% positive feedbacks from ebay. I would like to spread the word about ebid, but I am not finding much info on buyer protection. Can someone give me the scoop on this ?

    Hi and welcome to eBid.

Paypal works the same way on eBid as on eBay and provides the same seller protection. IMHO, eBid is also a safer trading environment than eBay, in that support responds personally and promptly to buyer and seller issues and, even more importantly, takes care of issues before they snowball, they way they sometimes do on eBay.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, we're here to help.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Paypal has provided protection to me for transactions done on eBid. I also work closely with eBid support when problems come up. They usually ask for communication on problem resolution or if they can assist in the process.

That is AWESOME !!! Thank you for the fast reply. Somewhere in the ebid Help: FAQ : Fraud Prevention and Resolution area, ebid should clearly state that fact about paypal. That reduces the possibility of getting taken advantage of, to almost nothing. Now, ebid has my blessing and I am going to spread the word.

    I second the above.

Sellers on ebid are allowed only one ID which makes things a lot safer for buyers.
The feedback system is also a lot fairer.

Buyers and sellers are trated equally on ebid through common sense measures that ebid have in place.

Bad sellers are rooted out and bad (non payers & fraudulent) buyers too are dismissed from the site whenever they are identified by support.

Paypal has no vested interest in ebid other than providing a financial service both for buyer and seller.

As an ebay company I feel it is biased when dealing with ebay clients and follows ebay's overly protective stance towards buyers, and discriminates against sellers.

IMO this is seen as a licence to defraud for that dishonest minority and has led to an increase of spurious and fraudulent claims against sellers.

I feel things are much safer on ebid - but even then you need to do all you can to limit the risk by paying via paypal and if possible funding that payment via a credit card.

Use tracking for posting expensive items. etc etc.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

I do not want to dampen your enthusiasm, but some other may experience protection and support differently or hold a different view. I approach "problems" as a seller or a buyer with an expectation that I am going to get help be it from Paypal or eBid. I try not to make negative statements about the seller/buyer until I have taken the time to communicate with Paypal & eBid support. Speaking of my own experiences, I usually have a positive outcome.

Ebid support is also great about removing retaliatory feedback. They advise to leave appropriate feedback and they refund fees paid by sellers for non-payng buyers. Ebid is considered a venue, and as such they do not include in their policy a dispute process. System works for me.

When it comes to an item not received / not sent / damaged or lost in shipping, who would be responsible for that ? If the item was not insured, I know the USPS will not reimburse if they damage anyones goods. Is the seller responsible ?

Well in UK you can make a claim with the post office for lost items. (seller's responsibility)
I know Glass & china are not covered by insurance. (so packing has to be robust.) (sender's responsibility)

Tracked and signed for items will resolve delivery disputes but are not really worthwhile for small inexpensive items.

I have a policy of blackballing all who claim non delivery, I also blackball all non payers.

I have always been willing to work with any seller on ebay and I want to do that here also. I am a very laid back buyer. My feedback scores from there are 100%. I have only given ONE well deserved, negative feedback mark to a reseller that took complete advantage of my trust. Paypal bailed them out and I pursued them until ebay shut down the store. The sad part is that ebay waited until there was around 1600 negative feedbacks to shut them down. ebid sounds like the place to buy and sell !!!
