With regards to number 2 on my list: (and this is a bit of duplication but I think it necessary) my camera produces images that are over 3MB in size. I suspect that that might be part of the slowing down problem. I'll be reducing the file size from now on and I'll see if that helps.

I know, it's an old thread, but people still go hunting for answers, even in old threads.
