Thread: Dutch auctions and feedback

  1. #1

    Default Dutch auctions and feedback

It seems a bit unfair that if a seller runs an eBid 'Dutch' auction and you have bought from them before that the next time you order from them again you can't leave them a feedback.

I'm just thinking about this as I've ordered my third lot of packaging material from a seller and yet in their feedback it looks like I have only bought from them once and that was ages ago. It makes it look like the seller isn't very busy on eBid when really they might be doing a really good trade here ! I don't think this is very good for the site and it doesn't seem very fair on the seller that they don't get the buddy points for repeated sales.

Another reason for being able to leave feedback a second time is that the service might have changed since the last time you bought and you might want to leave a different type of feedback.

What do others think about this ?

The last time I went back to a seller for a 'repeat ' item, I don't think he realised I bought it again. The other item I bought at the same time was duly invoiced and then paid for, but no mention was made of the 'repeat' item (ok, his communication is not out of this world and I didn't chase it) It just looked in my summery as if all was carried through

I agree, repeat business is a sign of a *good* seller, and eBid should be encouraging users to say so.

I've had that problem in the past too Meebo. It all gets quite confusing being taken back to the original AAL from months ago. I had trouble finding the payment button this time round, it kept telling me I had already paid for the item and taking me back to the original sale, I found it in the end but it took me a couple of attempts !

That "apply to all AAL" tick box thingy always looks like an invitation to disaster to me, too.

I came accross this one earlier in the year when I bought 2 of something and then went back a week or so later and bought another 2. I wasn't able to leave any feedback as the system drew from the feedback of the previous purchase. Also, if I remember rightly, there was no 'pay now' button as it kept referring back to the initial purchase that was paid & completed. If I remember rightly, it also caused problems for the seller in that she had the same problem re the feedback and a she had a problem with being able ...... or not as it happens ...... to send an invoice. We managed fine as I paid through paypal bypassing the invoice problem - but it is a problem for both buyers & sellers that needs addressing.

I TOTALLY agree - you should be able to leave feedback item by item............and each time you buy.

Phew, glad it's not just me going round in circles trying to find an up to date payment button. I did get there in the end, just don't ask me how as I clicked back and forwards so many times ! If we are that confused Babs just think of the poor newbies that might be trying to purchase a second time on the same Dutch auction !

I had the same problem as the others on this thread. I bought a couple of items from an ebid seller to test the waters, found that the items were a bargain, bought more a week later. I thought I would be able to leave positive praise, but couldn't. I pressed button after button and kept going round in cirlcles, but thought it was me still not knowing how the system worked.

I add my voice to the need that you should be able to leave feedback for each lot you buy in dutch auctions.
