A few years back a TV ad for a breakfast cereal began with a clock and its alarm going off, that sound, that very sound was the same sound my own alarm clock made..........that moment like a second of airtime on a rollercoaster made me react, for a moment, some atomaton reacting to the call of duty for another days drudgery.....'Down at mill'..........I hated that ad an always reached for the remote, if the remote was not on hand, I jumped up raced to the TV and off it went quicker than the noise on the ad its self.
I can not help thinking shows like X Factor, are also like some extended alarm or droning signal that turns off and tunes in its viewers, who subconsciously shuffle like the lovable old style zombies(or folk texting the most important text in the world) towards the dark cave where the Morlocks wait..........
