Brown bread, cream cheese and walnuts.
Feta cheese and chopped olives mashed with a little milk.
'Mum's Mock crab' (wartime recipe):-
Grated cheese, grated tomato, small spash vinegar, small pinch english mustard powder, mash up with a splash of milk, season with salt & pepper to taste.
Avocado is a good alternative.
Avocado and beef is my favourite, but avocado and cheddar is good too.

Of course, another way to ring the changes is to use different breads. My increasingly famous seedy wholemeal with honey is proving as we speak... yum!
I always have to test breads out, went to a bootsale once there was a stall selling all these different kinds of bread, were everso dear was 2.50 for a smallish round one (cant remember what it was) but was really loverly, cant do it all the time, but it is good once in a while to try something new

Life is serious but taking it too seriously robs you of
happiness, fun and productivity
i had a loaf from Morrison two weeks ago..malted sommit with fruit..it was delicious...toasted with butter..mmm...yum..they havent had it since ! i asked and the baker said they change the bread all the time..
Egg with mayo and cress - but does pong a bit when the box is opened! I love brie with cranberry sauce, redcurrant jelly or mango chutney as already mentioned but brie with grapes is nice too!
I like Thick 'cutty' white bread with gorgonzola and sliced gherkins - but I'm not allowed to eat bread any more!
At present my preference is for German rye bread with butter, smoked cheese, and a little piccalilli 'juice' ! LOL
