Thread: Would Anyone Object

I wouldn't pay to list either as I already have on two accounts ( one for hubby) and also I have found first hand that advertising does not work like some folk think it does. I used to advertise my B&M shop in the news paper, by leaflet drops with a money off voucher and also with the Rank organisation on the Cinema screens, it didn't work.

Wouldnt be paying a penny more for for listing.

I would however be quite willing to pay a higher fvf for sales if it boiled down to it.
I would agree to pay a higher fvf

It would also be nice if eBid were seen to used a small portion of the many £74.99 lifetime fees they have collected to promote the site.

I did say a SMALL portion.

Also I am not running a charity that is willing to pay £74.99 just to keep the eBid owners in work.

[QUOTE=Mainstream;1246579]I was just reading Andumi post another seller considering joining us at Ebid, We have some great sellers on here with fantastic items, but we do not seem to reach coverage like the other side,
Ebid is a great contender to rival Ebay and with the right advertising Ebid could match and probably topple The other side from its No 1 Position.

I am amazed at the amount of people that have never heard of Ebid especially in the USA and like the original post writer only found ebid through seeking an alternative to the other side.

So my question is how many people would object to paying a small listing fee to help cover advertising for Ebid or is this thought totally out of context

I was just wondering so please dont block me from the forum

As one who left the other side because of fees and policy I would hate to see the same thing start here that has happened there. I sold for awhile there when they were still a seller friendly entity. Even then there was another site that was more user friendly and had not been bitten by the money bug.

I think part of the problem there is it's size. You can't keep a hands on if you keep adding to the layers of administration that they have. Most of the time the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing over there. Since the change at the top of the company there has been on a continual downfall. They seem to have far too many queens with far too few common sense worker bees.

I feel the best thing we can do is keep putting our things out there and keep promoting every where we can. Thirty-five years ago we started a second hand furniture store with $5000. We had no money for advertising. It took a couple of very lean years to build a customer base. It was done one customer at a time with good service, fair prices and word of mouth. Bad words and you take a step backwards and good words you take two steps forward.

No I am not in favor of listing fees. It adds another layer of administration and removes the control farther from the people who make up and control the site.
