Thread: Does eBid offers eBay style "Buyer requires immediate Payment"?

As a seller I can weigh additional items and discount the P&P (postage and packaging) or S/H (shipping and handling) manually when I add an item up until the sale is paid... so have never had that problem

As a buyer I have encountered 'missing' sellers - but as I always wait for or request an invoice I have not lost any money, just time and patience lol ... so I like the 'log in' idea

Dutch auctions/BINS could also raise a problem the buyer for instance wants to buy 5 items @ £10.00 each

postage for a single item is £5.00 for 5 items thats £25.00 so could be a over payment of £15.00 the buyer might not be prepaired to pay the over payment, for it to work with a "Buyer requires immediate Payment"?option you would need to install a automatic postage adjuster that the seller sets up for multiple buys on dutch auctions

might be a good idea to look into setting up a automatic postage adjuster for dutch auctions wether the sellers requires immediate payment or not !

If a seller wants buyers to be able to browse their shops and select half-a-dozen different items, then wants to offer a discount on postage for multiple items, they don't choose "immediate payment". It's up to a seller to know which sales model fits their business best, and choose their settings accordingly.

I've never seen or heard of this option on e*** - am I right in thinking if the buyer doesn't pay immediately they "lose" the item and it is re-listed? Not something I'd ever use as a seller and it would put me off as a buyer.

After all the buyer has the legal right to change their mind for seven days after making a purchase anyway.

Yes it's a common enough idea - the goods aren't yours until they're paid for. If they're not paid for in the time-frame, they go back on sale to the next person. It's popular with people with a large inventory of standard parts, for example, where managing NPBs would be an onerous task.

I'm not sure what your point is about "changing their mind"? Nothing's changed there, it's just clearer cut. If they change their mind before paying, there is less hassle for both sides. If they change their mind later, their legal position is unaltered.

There seem to be a lot of misconceptions about this idea. It's really just introducing a completely familiar online buying principle - think of any fixed price, shopping cart system you've ever used. The purchase isn't complete until you've paid. Perfectly straight-forward.

you dont see it a lot on feebay but it is used by some sellers there, i agree it is off putting and i would not use it as a seller,
i can only really see it working here for single purchases or Dutch Bins with a auto postage calculator

I could take this option or leave it out. I sometimes get buyers who pay instantly on bid style auctions or bin sales :-)

It can pose a bit of a problem though...........like if they pay instant with paypal, yet have different shipping addy on eBid & PP; and will not clarify on difference or confirm correct imfo.

Everyone is making the payment Process to confusing. The buying process should be like a normal web store that has a shopping cart that collects things that you pick from that seller or any other seller. Then at the end of the shopping experience you pay for the items you collected. Then at any time you can open the shopping cart and subtract from the cart if you do decide you do not want it any more. The seller can make discounts for multiple items. Basically you pay for the items when you are done shopping. You have the best of both sides of the argument Immediate payment and selecting multiple Items with shipping discounts. since there is basically not bidding or I haven't seen much of it here this would be the way to go. Not only would the shopping cart be easier but there would be no none paying bidder. This would make it easier for the people in charge not so much work for them. They wouldn't have to credit anyones account anymore.

But this is just my 2 cents.
