left school at 16...worked in several factories and a supermarket before being a stop at home housewife and mum.
Spent 25 years as a full time carer for my daughter who has autism and a severe learning disability.
While caring for my daughter I did a bit of paid work as a freelance writer and a travel escort for special schools.
I also edited and published newsletters for various support groups relating to kids with special needs and ran several support groups.
My last job was as a volunteer in a charity shop while at the same time I traded on various auction sites.
In 2006 I started a retail business on-line but switched to marketing in late 2008.
I am currently expanding my marketing business and also promote local charities through auction site sales.
I expect to continue in marketing as I love messing about with websites
I'm also working towards being a town councillor and am standing in our town's local election next spring as an independent candidate![]()

I think what's interesting is how fragmentary our career paths all are, and how many of us have done a wide variety of things. I only put the main building-blocks in my history, but if I'd gone into the sort of detail the rest of you had there'd be F1 journalism, yacht hand, Greek shop assistant and all sorts of other bits in there too. Yet my impression was that most people still tended to do one thing and stick to it, maybe with a change of employer or three along the way, then stop. Is this "a bit of this, a bit of that" more normal than I imagined (it's not like I've ever researched it!), or is it just the type of people who end up selling online?
