Thread: Why can't all buyers be like this?

If you have any doubts just transfer the money out of PayPal. My friend had her money frozen a few months ago. Since PayPal is a necessary evil I don't ever leave more than the amount I need for postage and other things that pertain to the stores. I have never had a credit card associated with PayPal. They have no way to charge me because I have never authorized them to make withdrawals from my current checking account which is different from the one I signed up with. Since at least in the US they are not a real bank they do not have the same powers that a bank has once the funds are out of their account.

I hope your sale goes through ok but I can't help but have my doubts, it sounds too good to be true especialy with the extra £50. I would claim my money fast if I were you.

Personally I dont think they are a ''necessary evil'' - I like them - I use them all the time for purchasing and selling, and wont buy items online using any other means - including credit cards - and have done for many years.

I agree!! I just don't leave very much in there so that if my account gets frozen I can continue to operate. I think it is only prudent given their track record. They are not easy to deal with when things go wrong. They are not regulated enough for there to be any protection for us.

For anyone who's concerned I have actually posted out the games console to 'Evangelist Balogun' then fear not - the only way he'll get his hands on it is if he can pick it up from here:

I'm aware there are some fairly sophisticated scams about but this one didn't come anywhere near that category:

    1. New user with 0 feedback set to 'Private' - check
    2. Paid top Buy It Now price + threw in an extra £50 for me to send it quickly - check
    3. Attempted to open dialogue outside of eBay - check
    4. 'Paypal' confirmation email containing several typos and grammatical errors - check
    5. Address in Nigeria - check
    6. Some kind of religious angle for added 'authenticity' - check

Final scam report card: F- must try harder

(Oh, and they got NARU'd between steps 3 and 4 anyway )

I would have started and stopped at #5. Not that I ever sell to Africa.

The minute I see "I will pay you X-amount for P&P" and "I would love for you to send it to NIGERIA because I'm on the other side of the world" in the same email, it is a big NO NO! Then, to my shame (not!) I write and tell them exactly what I think of the scamming lowlife eejits (that's VERY mild!). As I pointed out to my latest scammer yesterday, my ten year old niece could come up with better scams - and with correct spelling too!

Now this is an interesting experience and thanks for sharing it!

As for a Paypal back charge and I have had a few of those but here in the States the customs number on the declaration form is proof enough that the item was indeed shipped!
