Default Promoting ebid through craigs list

Just posted an ad on Craigs List promoting my wares and also have links to Ebid. Hopefully this works!

I posted some of my shops on Craigs list and got a very odd email...

'i am very interested in your items please message'

so i messaged asking what ones.

Email back was similar but the grammar was very bad, as was in the first... and no comment on what items... they wanted some personal details..

needless to say i binned the emails and won't respond again... just be aware, there are some really unscrupulous people out there who will attempt anything to glean personal details, names addressess phone numbers, bank details so on and so forth even to extortion...

    take care of you

Janey, that is a very common CL spam email :-(
Yes Craigslist brings out a LOT of spammers so beware! The best way to weed out the spam from the real stuff is to include a subject line that a 'bot' cannot pick up on. In this case I would put - 'please reply with the words 'COMIC BOOKS' in subject line of email' - If the reply doesn't include that, I treat as spam.

But for the most part I really only use CL for free advertisement, nothing more. It's a good way to reach local eyes for your stuff.

    I'm always getting:

Love your items, when can we arrange a time for a personal view?

    *cough*

I posted on craigslist too and got a bunch of scammers and I even got a woman who told me I could 'get more money for my jewelry' and sent me a diguised link for 'cash for gold' telling me she made $ in a week. I sell hand made beaded items. Only pure metal is the sterling clasps. What a loser.

Is Craigslist just in the US? Not come across in the UK market. Tried thegumtree, but they're getting a bit awkward about people advertising stuff on auction sites
