Thumbs down Hi new Uk seller after advice

Hi guys I am a ex ebayer and closed down my buisness due to ebays various rules and regs so first of all I am hoping this site will be better I can already see it is cheaper. Just had a couple of questions for other ebid sellers.

I have noticed alot of the listings are from everywhere in the world is it worth listing if you only wish to post within the uk ?

Is it possible to run and make a success of just a ebid store or do you need to list on other auction sites in other words can this site keep you busy enough ? just wondering whether to pay for the seller + but would like advice first as I have sold most of my stock off cheap but will start to buy some more if this is worth it.

    Any advice is highly appreciated

    Thanks

    Justin

I think the site's user base remains predominantly UK based but the user base in other countries continues to rise - particularly since eBid recently opened up to buyers from anywhere in the world rather than just to those countries it serves for sellers. If you want to maximise your sales then it doesn't make sense to ignore the overseas market.

Nobody can answer that for you. It depends on the popularity of what you are selling, your competitiveness of prices and the amount of effort you are willing to put in. Some people seem to be very successful here but some struggle. The latter are mainly those that come here with an eBay mentality and cannot adapt to the different selling practices needed on a site with a lesser footfall than the (sadly) most popular site.

just wondering whether to pay for the seller +
Again an unanswerable question. You have to work out the economics that are applicable to you. Look at the amount you intend to list and calculate what that would cost you here without using Seller+, on another site, and here with Seller+.

Generally I would say that if you intend to list in quantity or regularly then the Seller+ Lifetime (particularly if you can get the discount) should make economic sense in the long term.

I recommend that if you do want to test the water that you take out a Seller+ 30 or 90 day subscription to get a feel for the site and see if it suits you. If it doesn't then no great loss. If it does then what you have already paid is deductible from the Seller+ Lifetime subscription. Note that the short term subscriptions are self renewing so you have to cancel them if you do not wish to continue with them.

Thank you for your response I myself are over the moon to have another option other than ebay as I did not agree with alot of their policies, postage rules and various other bits so I am hoping that this will work out for me. I am quite lucky at the moment with the stock that I have nobody could beat the price on feepay so I am hoping I will continue to be the cheapest and best value on here. The other thing I have noticed and am very impressed with is seeing my items added to google shopping I like that idea and hope it will help with sales.

    thanks

    Hi and welcome to eBid.

Personally I don't get enough sales to make this my own selling venue - although this is the only auction site I sell on - I have a website, sell on a "classified ads" French site and sell face to face at markets and events for needlewomen. However, seller+ lifetime has been worth it as I have recouped that money and more on eBid! I intend to live for a good few years yet so I feel sure I will definitely get good value from my payment!

And.... before you take any notice of me you have to remember that I am based in France which, sadly, still has a tiny eBid membership and I have the added disadvantage that my items can't be added to google products as for some unknown reason (nothing to do with eBid) France isn't included But in spite of all these problems all the feedback you see has been earned here....

Hi, I'm also a new Ebidder. As an ex-feeBayer, I would have to say that it is much slower here, so IF you are relying on income from online sales, it would be advisable to also sell elsewhere for now, until eBid becomes busier.

And you're right, it's MUCH friendlier here!

yes i gathered from the other posts that have been on here that things go a bit slower. to be honest it will take me about a month to get settled and receive some new stock I dont intend going back to the con artists that are feebay and i can see that this is picking up slowly but surely so am quiet a patient person I am out of work at the moment so even a handful of sales each week is a good start as far as I am concerned I think even though this is a bit slower it must be number two at least as far as auction sites go and if number 1 keeps upsetting everyone who knows in the not so distant future ebid could dominate. We can do but hope

    Fingers crossed

welcome to ebid, I moved over from ebay just over a month ago and have had 3 sales not any where as much as feebay but I came here with no illusions that it would be. I have had a good experience so far, people here are much friendlier and I have every hope that this site will continue to grow in popularity. Quite honestly with the amount of people I know personally and read about in the forums that are moving over to ebid things can only get better. I think ebid are building a seller base that they should be proud of This is the place to be as far as I am concerned
    wishing you good luck
