Doesn't seem to fit with RM's restrictions which prohibits all living creatures except:

Bees, Leeches, Pupae and Chrysalides, Caterpillars, Lugworms, Rag worms, Earthworms, Maggots, Silkworms, Fish fry and Fish eggs, Mealworms, Crickets, certain Parasites and destroyers of Noxious Pests, and some other insects sent between recognised institutions are allowed. You must use boxes that protect both the creatures and Royal Mail staff from harm. Use First Class as the minimum service and clearly label the package as "URGENT - LIVING CREATURES". Mark the sender's name and address on the outer wrapping.

And doesn't sound from the OP that it was suitably packaged or labelled.

Astral Tarantulas are sent through the post quite often, as for not being labelled properly I cant help that, but shes gorgeous. What people are supposed to put on the packing is

"Do not drop live specimen enclosed"

They have to be sent out Special delivery as well. And never in cold weather.

OMG!! Gone right off the mail now.
That scares me silly~ afraid of normal spiders, so that really does make me nervious.
