The Queen in Canada

The Queen is in Canada to help celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the Canadian navy and Canada day. Canada sent a lot of convoys during WWll to help the Brits. I'm not much on the Royal family as there has been so much scandal with them over the years. The Queen I do respect. The woman has class.

Going slightly off topic, the UK was only able to hold firm in both World War 1 and World War 2 with the help from what were her former colonies and dominions. A key source of help in both World Wars was Canada. World War 1 could not have been won without the substantive help from Canada and India, nor without the input of the descendants of the slaves from the West Indies who provided logistics support for the front line. The Canadians suffered heavy casualties in both World Wars. The UK exhausted its financial resources because of these two wars. However, the various losses were not in vain. The political will to develop what has now evolved into the European Union has meant that there has been no further military conflict between the European nations that had been fighting each other for centuries. The European Union project is in part a Canadian achievement and the contribution of Canada towards lasting peace in Europe should not be forgotten with the march of time.

Nobody has to be King or Queen. It is her choice to remain as such.

Personally I would be glad to be rid of the lot of them - but don't know what I would replace it with as head of state.
