    Unhappy Visitors Counter....misleading?

I was wondering why I had around 36 visitors have a look at one item and a very similar item next to it had 0 visits.

I went in and had a look to see if I had it listed in the wrong category (which it wasn't), but when I returned to my list of items, the visitor counter had gone up to 3.

I tried this out on another item which had 0 visits and after my visit the counter was showing 3.

now I don't know if I'm really getting all that many visits to my items or if this is just a 'feel good' ploy written into the site.

I don't think it's reliable, but nor do I think it's some sneaky ploy - it's just unreliable. I never take any notice of the view counters.

Yeah - noticed similar myself. Some of my items had views into the 100's! Whit? This appeared to be after the site had been down for upgrades or something.

Can't rely on them I have had items with 50-60 views go down to 10 without being relisted and vice versa, nothing sneaky I don't believe just not a reliable source

If you look at your own items the view count goes up.
The only way to avoid that is to edit the item and then choose preview to look at it.
The view count is not reliable and it doesn't really matter anyway, all you need is one person to view it who actually wants to buy it.

I am learning not to take notice of those counters as well. I am wondering if some of them are search engine indexing spiders?

It would be nice if they all converted into sales tho!
Mine are the same, but you can set them not to be reset to zero in settings, seems to work.. most of the time!

Hi. I posted a similar problem under "views". I take your point that the counter is unreliable. But this only increases more skepticism about the exposure of the Stores. How would anyone know if the sife is being viewed at all? Any wisdom? There seems to be a lot of concern not being addressed by ebid. Love your banner, Brian
