oops, no i wouldn't wait that long. It's charged at a local rate which is not so bad, but it soon mounts up!

Only free with BT if you're on BT Anytime plan

Calling an 0845 number costs 2p per minute daytime, and 0.5ppm at all other times when called from a BT landline. Other networks, including calls from mobiles may vary.
There are lots of price brackets for 0844 and 0843 numbers; from 1p per minute, rising in half pence increments to 5p per minute. 0843 and 0844 numbers cost the same to call at all times of the day. However, if you are a BT residential customer that benefits from one of their inclusive talk plans, calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers are included (with a fair usage policy) and are free of charge to call.

Its also free to call 0845 and 0871 with the Company I use. Why not email them instead? Anyway if its the firms bill why are you worrying?

I just do a google search for 'say no to 08 numbers'

Go to one of the web-sites then you can get a normal land line number for the company you are trying to ring.

These numbers are a total pain, when they first came out & didn't know about them I was horrified at my phone bill

Surely, if you replace an 0845 (local rate) number with a real area code, if you live the other end of the country you'll end up spending *more*?
