When I was a kid in 4-H, I trained a guide dog who went to a woman whose blindness was caused by laser eye surgery. She had both eyes done on the same day, and the doctor made the same mistake in both eyes.
My grandmother decided on the basis of that experience, to have both eyes done on two different days. The first surgery went well but the second was botched. She retained vision in both eyes but they were never able to quite work out the correct lenses for her botched eye so she ended up worse than she started out.
While I know people who rave about how positive their experience was with that surgery, I'd be pretty leery of it myself.
