I haven't found any reference to these two items:

1. The big red X on the right side. What is it for?

2. The Category Box on lower left of each listed item. Am I supposed to do something with it?

New user likes, very much, what he sees on ebid....

The big red X on the right side. What is it for?

If you look at the top of the columns it tells you what the content means; in this case the item has no bids. It will change to a green tick when a bid is received.

The Category Box on lower left of each listed item. Am I supposed to do something with it?

It is a filter to refine which of your items are displayed on the page.
