If you want to sell internationally, there's no viable alternative to Paypal.

As far as the domestic ones are concerned, charging a fee to pay with a debit card deters people .

The operators make a good margin without doing that, from the interest they earn on the funds that are held in the system, so Im surprised that no one has bit the bullet and offered a totally free payment system.

Afraid Again it has to be Paypal

My problem is although working in the UK, my bank account is back in the USA, and Paypal is the only service that allows you to withdraw funds into a US Bank Account,

Also the fact that a buyer can pay in UK£ and the funds can then be converted at a very good rate to US$ for withdrawl,

I wish there was a viable alternative available but for now it has to be Paypal!

I hate paying by cheque - in fact I'd rather pay extra than have to pay by cheque!

So any auctions offering Fastpay are my faves. I use Paypal if it's offered but am not keen on Nochex because of the upload fee, and I prefer to pay by credit card.

I think each of you need to look at this table -

    http://www.gazlannathai.com/Auctions/payonline.htm

then you'll see that as a seller FastPay is the cheapest.

But also look above the cost rows and notice which methods you can use to load funds into the account as a buyer, or which banking verification system is used - some use credit cards, others use debit cards, and some offer bank direct debit facilities - it depends what suits you best.

Admitedly, FastPay's transfer by mobile phone SMS service is useful, but only if you are actually in the UK. ppPay's Escrow is also useful - if your buyer is willing to pay the fees. etc etc etc

It seems to me that the best payment system is between PPPay and Fastpay (for UK traders).

Am I correct in thinking that PPPay has a minimum charge of £15 for its escrow service? If this is the case, then it is certainly great for big vale items but does it beat Fastpay for lower-value ones?

    Any ideas?

And has anyone actually managed to take up the courage to ditch Paypal yet? Having spoken to them recently about downgrading my account back to Personal, they said that you can only downgrade once.
So if I want to upgrade again, I can but have to stay at that level thereafter...

Unfortunatley this is true and this is one reason I don't sell internationally. I think Fastpay are looking at going international, just hope they don't take too long.

As far as the domestic ones are concerned, charging a fee to pay with a debit card deters people .
This is why I refund the 20p charge if a buyer uses Fastpay, still works out cheaper than paying Paypal fees. Also saves me the hassle of banking cheques and waiting for them to clear.

Egg have with Eggpay (http://new.egg.com/eggpay). It is similar to Nochex in that you can only use a debit card or bank account to fund your Eggpay account. It has no fees at all and they pay you interest on your Eggpay balance. It is a poor interest rate, but it's more than Nochex give you.

What do i need to do different about my pay pal account? Will it link up here also? Will i be able to finish my items off at feebay with no problems? And still work out here with no issues? Do i need to wait here or end early there?
