Default I can't work this one out

"A massive asteroid was to blame for the demise of the dinosaur, and not a volcanic eruption, scientists have said."

If so, why wasn't all life destroyed?

They say the asteroid caused the ice age.

    I can't see why everything didn't die.

Lots of theories about that 1.

The Mammoths found in a block of ice, aparently instantly frozen, still food in their mouths .
Must have been ok 1 min and then solid frozen the next.

An asteroid that created enough dust to block out the sun could have caused ice storms across the globe.

Could happen again i suppose but we have tech to survive that kinda thing now, even if it means living underground.

I think the bods are expecting floods and a new ice age to follow , the seed bank in the frozen Greenland mountain means they are defenately worried.

Best make the most of whatever summer we get eh

    Music.
Plato says when the music of a society changes, the whole society will
    change.
Aristotle, a contemporary of Plato's, says when music changes there should be laws to govern the nature and the character of that music.
Lenin says that the best and the quickest way to undermine any society is through its music!

Ice creates a thermal kind of blanket, underneath smaller rodents and things could survive in constant temps. A bit like living in an igloo i suppose.

Reptilian creatures need heat from the Sun to survive. If they get too cold, all their body functions start closing down and they die. The overall air temperature fell because all the dust from the impact blocked the heat of the Sun coming through. The life forms that survived were the ones that could cope with reductions in temperature. The ice sheets of the ice age did not cover the whole world.

well i know what you are saying, but i think that most of it is ok.

Maybe not the best link for this subject, but Snowball earth has been talked about for ages and i kind of hope that Wiki attracts otherwise silenced types with good knowledge.
I trust wiki more than the BBC put it that way

Then you sir are very naughty~

Got my info from a news site.

Thanks for those who tried to enlighten me. Alway happy to add to my education~

I can undestand how small animals could survive under a sheet of ice. But if it happened so suddenly, why did some animals died instantly, why not all of them?

What's that about a sperm bank somewhere?
Do they know something we should know?
