Thread: Best free web hosting service ?

  1. #1

Default Best free web hosting service ?

Anyone use a free web hosting service that they can recommend ?

I've not got time to sift through all the Google results now as I have to nip into work for a few hours.

I'm looking for one which offers a minimum of 50MB of space, 1GB per month bandwidth, and no adverts if possible. Apart from that I'm not really bothered what else they offer.

I can't say what it is for as it could cause arguments on here and we can do without that, but I'll be posting a link to the site on my Facebook status if I get the time to build the site..

No idea on the facts and figures but find webs.com excellent to use, and have pointed several people that way to similar reviews.

I am considering building a website to indirectly promote ebid in general, and more specifically my store.

I would like a free one with no ads, but what is more important to me is a free site, where it is OK for me to include adverts for my ebid stuff, without breaking any T&Cs

Webs.com looks good, but I think it says something in their T&Cs, that you may not carry advertising. I don't know, Yorkie, if that is something you need to consider?

Which begs the question, when does a link to an external page/site become an advert?

Or do they mean paid ads, such as google adsense?

I wouldn't like to invest time building a free website, which included links to stuff I am selling here (effectively advertising), only to have the site shut down and all that time wasted.

Does your ISP provide web space? I find that perfectly adequate for my needs. If I was attempting something more serious then I would look at web hosting.

No that won't matter to me as I won't be advertising or selling anything.

Yeah it does, but I've used it twice in the passed and their server crashed and lost all my files, so I won't use them again.

Would I have to have a domain registered with this company ?, or can I just sign up and use the service for free ?

Thank you for all the replies folks.

I found a site, it's called Moonfruit, seems pretty good.

I built my site earlier, it took me just under a couple of hours to work out what I wanted and then build it.

I've posted a link on my Facebook status, but I'd rather folk didn't comment about the site here as it will probably cause an argument and I don't want to do that.

I'll be adding to the site when I have time, a news page would be good I think. I can easily add a forum but given the subject matter I think it would be more of a war zone than a forum so I probably won't bother. lol

Anyway, I found a free website, so thanks for all your replies folks.
