You would think they would have the decency to tell you why your thread was deleted. If some one reported it we wouldn't have to know who--just why. That way we could possibly avoid making the same mistake again.
I can't see that it's a matter of decency. I can't see that it matters at all, honestly. I'm not sure why people get so worked up about it. If ebid had to contact everybody who posted in a thread, or even just started a thread, that got reported and pulled it would massively increase their workload, and would invite arguments with ebidders who disagreed with the reasons given. Why go there? What advantage is there, really? We all know perfectly well the sort of things that cause posts and threads to be removed. Making somebody say it adds nothing good to the situation.
Trouble is bykimbo
Not everyone on here has the same attitude, so if something makes (as you put it) no matter to you, it does matter a lot more to someone else,
It's not as if this ? has been asked here for the first time either, the same ? is being asked time and time and time again,
so obviously it has matter ed to a lot of forum posters over the time,
Of course. I expressed an opinion, that's all. But I'd be interested to see somebody actually put forward a reason *why* it matters to them. Apparently it matters to you. Can you explain why? It seems so unimportant to me I can't really get it.I have stuff go missing. When it first happened I asked, because I didn't know how things worked. Now I do, so I don't worry about it.
I cant see it would put any extra workload on a mod.
They obviously have to click a button to delete a thread.
A simple load of boxes beside that button with reason for deletion,.......aggresive behaviour, against ebid policies, bad language etc etc. Put a tick in that box.
That would trigger an automatic email which would be sent to the poster.
At least it would give the poster a clue as to why the thread was deleted, and would help avoid making the same mistake again.
If you dont want a child to do something again, you say NO, and tell them why, so hopefully they wont do it again.
No real difference here.
I dont think it's a childs matter,
Me personally I think it's about politeness, thus giving the person who made the effort to start a thread, the reason for it's deletion,
you said that
but that is happenening anyway when they have to come in to delete the thread in the first place, I like magz idea of when they delete the thread they could just tick a box and a message sent to the OP as to why the thread is deletedit would massively increase their workload
