Mars and the full Moon pair up to provide a grand celestial spectacle on Friday night.

The Red Planet, now 62 million miles from Earth, will be at its brightest this year as it lines up opposite the Sun.

At around 9pm, Mars will be above and to the left of the Moon, about the length of an outstretched fist away.
Well, DRATS!!! It's been snowing here all day long, and not expected to lift til tomorrow sometime....oh well....let me know how the show went, sounds like it would be spectacular!!

Heres the shots I managed to get tonight too much contrast to show Mars and the moon in the same shot. The Mars shot is about 3X the size of the Moon shot to give an idea of scale. Need a more powerful lens for Mars though, perhaps I should ask the missus to get me the Hubble for my Birthday
