Given that the people of Wootten Bassett have regulary performed the
duties of Royalty and our so called politicians by welcoming home the
bodies of our servicemen and women with dignity and respect and have
represented the nations sympathy with modesty, this country should
repay their loyalty to the crown and its armed fo...rces by granting Royal
Patronage upon the town and rename it Royal Wootten Bassett.

The residents of Wootton Bassett have repeatedly said they do not want that.

Plus...If a petition is to be raised for such a thing they could at least take the trouble to spell the place name correctly.

Also, I won't sign the petition. Not because I think our servicemen and women don't deserve any respect - they most certainly do.

Am I any less appreciative of our forces efforts because I happen to live outside of a 5 mile radius of one of their bases? No.


I don't see why Wootton Bassett should have any special claim unless all of their inhabitants went off to fight in the war/s?
