I used to drive a big Vauxhall Carlton automatic. Back then they didn't have snow settings on the gearbox and they used to be a pig in slippery conditions. Especially setting off. I got stuck in a car park one day and it wasn't going anywhere.

Then this little old lady turned up. Nothing to her and it looked as if a light breeze would carry her away.

'Do you want a push young man?' (it was a long while ago) she asked. Put down her shopping and took up position at the back. I tried to dissuade her but she insisted. So I thought 'if she is game...'.

Yup. She pushed me free. I still think of her every time it snows though she will be long gone now.

I hope I am that game if I reach her age.

We've got two or three inches of snow here I think, I didn't see the gritters yesterday, I expect they'll turn up at some point.

I couldn't work last night, the blower fan on the car heater started playing up last Friday, the garage identified the problem Saturday, but couldn't get the part until today.
Throughout the week the fan worked less & less, by Thursday it would run for about 10 to 15 seconds, ever two or three minutes, I'd have to turn it off & turn it on again to make it work at all.
If I was driving at 40 or above some heat circulated so it wasn't too bad, but slower than that or stopped pretty useless.

I tried last night, but the only way to keep the screen demisted was to drive with the window open.

I've just received a phonecall from the garage, the part Vauxhall sent was for the wrong model, but they can get the right one for tomorrow, so another night off, the cars in bits & the weather won't improve so it's pointless making them put it back together or getting it back.

Two nights off is good, two nights loss of income bad, especially as the part alone costs nearly £180.00

Well what snow fell has all but gone now, 5am it was there but it had started melting when I got up at 8am. I've been trying to get a decent shot of a Robin for ages and managed this with some remaining snow on the log. I think he's looking to see if there is any more snow to come
