I have just finished knitting a pair of socks. The last pair I knitted was over 40 years ago. And I remembered how to do it!!
Just thought I share this with you

I've just finished my first ever pair! I found Youtube videos very helpful for turning the heel and grafting the toe (pattern seemed totally incomprehensible but was actually very easy!). For me, the fun was in how quickly they grew!
Yes, I was surprised how quickly they grew. Took me 4 days to finish (previous pair - several months )
I've only ever done baby's bootees!
Your wish is my command - my socks
Just floating an idea here...... Having been inspired by the "What book are you reading at the moment?" thread - which is brilliant and very interesting. What say you all to a similar ongoing thread for crafters where we could all show pictures of what we are making or have just finished? I love to see what other craftworkers are up to... like meebo and her socks! Maybe we can inspire others to take up crafts we are passionate about...
I also think meebo's "I am very proud of myself" title would be a great heading ... What do you all think?

Beautiful socks! We are all getting ready for winter. What yarn did you use? I just started my first pair with Deborah Norville's wool sock yarn in shades of blue and green.
The top looks great, but I am stuck on that pesky heel. Directions are long and drawn out but don't tell me the overall plan, so I stopped for a while. I made the flap and now I do what with it?
Guess I have a nice wrist warmer if that heel business does not work out.

We can try and keep this one going and see what happens.
The thread for the socks is cotton, so not really winter wear, but have since knitted a pair in green wool from my YDC bag I won from cornishmaid. As it was pre used, I just knotted the ends together for speed and as they are only for around the house, it doesn't matter. And my feet are lovely and warm
