Default Fake websites shut down by police

Have just heard on the news that the police have closed more than 1,200 websites that claim to sell cut-price designer goods....

Good for them ! A round of applause for our police. Anything to make internet shopping safer is good for all of us sellers.

While on one hand I agree, it is a good thing.........

On the other hand, having it splashed all over the media that the internet has lots of dodgy items might put some people off altogether

If we're agreed that many people already have that impression, then "splashing it about" that the problem is being tackled is a good thing. We could go for the "ignore it and it might go away" technique, but my feeling is that it's not terribly popular.

what I ment was why should it put people off now when it was a well known fact before.

1,200 closed today - 2,000 new ones open at the same time. They are fighting a losing battle.

Anyway I think the majority of people that buy from these sites know the goods are fake and they could not care less. They just want cheap goods that look like the real thing.
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

Not necessarily. I wanted to buy my daughter some UGG boots and went onto a website offering them on sale. They looked genuine but when I went onto the FAQs to check a bit further I got the message "you have been directed here from a FAKE WEBSITE" eeek

Luckily for me, the fakers were too lazy to do their own FAQs and had linked it to the genuine site!
