Thread: I'm so happy - just closed my first sale!

  1. #1

Smile I'm so happy - just closed my first sale!

I just sold my first item on eBid and I'm happy. Only a little item, but it's encouraging. I've listened to advice from the forum and made changes to my listings, so I'm going to remain confident and look forward to selling more items in the future.
Thanks to everyone for their encouragement and advice - it really has helped as there were a lot of things I didn't realised about the type of auctions I was running and their visibility.
Just wanted to come back with something positive.
    Thanks again
    Gill

Oh well done Gill - it is always encouraging when you get your first sale - and when you get your first positive feedback.

Well, to be honest, even though I've been here over a year, and have built up a good feedback base, I still get a buzz when I make a sale & get positive feedback left.

    Onward and upward from here

Congratulations! And many more to come!

I'm with Babs, I always get excited when I make a sale here because it's so much harder to achieve than 'over there'.

    Unhappy

I have been selling on here for over 5 years, but find the sales are very, very slow. I can go months and not sell anything and have had over 26 non paying bidders which is extremely frustrating.
I sell Avon items amongst other things, but cannot understand how my item can be next to someone selling an identical product, mine at a lower price, but she will get the sale and I don't??????

My husband was so sick of me not selling, that he took it upon himself a few months ago to list a number of items on the Ebay site after a long time of not selling there. After 7 months he has sold in excess of 400 items whilst I have sold nothing. Where am I going wrong??

I have actually spent time uploading new items for sale only to have to delete them the same day or a few days later because my husband has already made a sale on the other site. It is so disheartening, I love this site and am loath to give in, it would be so great if more people knew about EBID. We have advertised the site to everyone we know, even customers on the rival site, but to no avail. HELP?

Hi sanddancer - when I look at your items and click the jewellery making section - which in French is fabrication de bijoux - I get greetings cards - don't know if that is another wobble with the French translation or are things listed in the wrong category?

Also after five years it is disappointing not to be able to read something about you on your "all about" page.

    Hi, Thanks for your input.

I have tried before to put information about myself, but never know what to put. Once I did try and it did not work as I was having problems with my computer. Not very good at the technical stuff. Maybe it would make a difference to my sales if I did, maybe I should try. Thanks for that.

I do not sell jewellery making items, either it is a glitch or else I have the cards listed in the wrong place. I have had problems when listing and find the item has jumped from the listing catergory to another similar area. Either it IS my computer or another problem with Ebid, I'm not sure.

For your about me page - just jot down a little about you - your online selling history - wherther you make what you sell, where you get your motivation etc. If you have more than 1 store (sorry, a bit lax of me not taking a peek) jot down a brief bit about them all - if one store is house clearance cos you're hoping to move - that sort of thing.

If you've got any outside of home interests - do you do charity work, a member of an association - that sort of thing - it helps to give the buyer / browser a bit of info about who they are trading with - the sort of thing that makes you tick so to speak.

The about me page is also a good place to put your terms and conditions of your online store - what payments you accept, when you expect payment bu, whether or not you accept returns and under what conditions you apply refunds - what sort of customer service can a buyer expect if there is a problem.

If you've sold or sell on another site - I know you mentioned that your hubby has listed your stuff on another site but I don't know if it is your selling account he is using or his own that he is using, but if its your account, then you could register with repatoo which will gather all of your selling & buying feedback from all sites you've sold on into one place, so all a browser has to do then is to click on the repatoo button on your about me page to see previous feedback. But - you'd have to register with repatoo to get them to group your feedback and add the clickable button first before anyone can do this.

Just another point of interest - I can understand your hubbys frustration but if he is listing on another site items that you have listed here - it could cause complications for you down the line if one item gets sold in 2 places. It may be an idea to separate your stock so he has one lot to list and you have the other.

    I hope that helps.
