Thread: Watchdog!

  1. #1

    Default Watchdog!

Did anyone see Watchdog last night, talking about energy prices and how we as consumers haven't seen any reductions in our bills despite the drop in wholesale gas prices. It transpires that Ofgem gave up the right to enforce price cuts 7 years ago, so are completely toothless, they then showed photos of 6 of the top execs on salaries of £250,00 -140,000. Now if theis QUANGO can't enforce anything what the heck is the point of paying those execs this outfit should be closed down as it is just a waste of our taxes.

I can't say I ever had any confidence in the integrity of such groups. Any more than I would trust a wolf to guard a chicken coop.

I have NOT actually changed my supplier over the last few years but kept a eye on the prices - guess what? Initially I paid higher then lower then higher.. - you get the picture. People who have changed seemed to have been caught out by small print and are not always any better off.
Sometimes it pays to 'wait and see' - or be lazy lol

I got my gas bill yesterday - they wanted me to put my monthly payment up from £40 to £120 !!!!!

After some argy-bargy, They will accept £70 per month -blerdy good job I get the winter fuel allowance!

I have both gas and electricity from EDF ( French - state-owned) as according to 'U-switch' it was the best for me. - I still cant say I'd be better off with another supplier.
Why not take a quick look at my Stores?

I had my gas bill monthly payment set at £77 and I only have a gas cooker and rarely use it.....I have no heating and use the microwave for just about every bit of cooking.

Its deppressing being at the mercy of utility companies, funny how any efforts with energy saving get soaked up with price increases so the over paid execs and greasey palmed share holders get fatter.

"Major energy providers raised prices by as much as 15 per cent. The biggest utility, Centrica, recently announced a £571 million profit from its residential energy business British Gas, which serves 16 million customers".

"Energy company profit margins had soared by £2.5 billion in the past three years".

Tis true! Politicians are like pigs at the trough- so are fat cat utility bosses, oil companies etc etc !

Then we are asked to tighten our belts (which we used to do) But now our belts are buckled to the bone!

Greedy Barstewards! We need a revolution! At least in thinking if not actually taking to the streets!
