If they were snotty with me........i'd have done the same & taken it further

But there again.......i'm banned from a shoe shop cos they refused a refund......so I duly set about telling everyone within earshot what a load of carp the shop sold.
    The manager was not amused......and I didn't give a monkey's

    Got my money back though

If they'd done it more than once with me, or friends said they'd had the same problem, I'd do something about it. But every dog gets one bite as far as I'm concerned*.

*Up to a price limit, probably.
I am only aware of 3 other issues that Paul & friends has had with this store one was rectified straight away due to Paul's "eagle eye", this was regards a top up on the electric which was supposed to be £35 but it was just showing as £7, and the store owner said "I don't know how that happened" the other 2 were to a friend with a very similar issue

Back history changes the story completely. He didn't just make his decision based on what you told us, did he? There's more to it. So views based on the one event you first mentioned are irrelevant. I withdraw my first response.

But Kimbo, If I took a faulty item back to a store and they refused to give me another of same item or a refund and told me in not so many words that I'm out of luck, why would I go back and purchase from them again?

As the saying goes: First time shame on you, Second time shame on me.

If they had compensated me I wouldn't hesitate to go back for more purchases. Items can go wrong sometimes and it's not the fault of the shop but the manufacturer in which case it's the shop's duty to refund the customer and make provision to send faulty goods back to the manufacturer.

Only reason hubby and I would use them would be to blow them up or make water bombs out of them.

You could be right Kimbo, but I still think it's a bit OTT.

We are not arguing about it (we never tend to argue which some say is odd) Paul just asked me to pose the question

Lol, but as Smiffy pointed out if you bought them from this shop they would more likely be old, brittle stock

What if you've used them a hundred times before, and never had a problem until this one time, for less than £2.00 and they're right on your doorstep? And sell things you use all the time? You'd still refuse to give them a second chance.

Like I've said, we don't know enough.

I think what opinion one offers is actually based on what assumptions one makes - so views are probably saying more about our basic assumptions than about this particular situation.
