mmm, I live on one of the great lakes, Lake Michigan so I will put in my 2 cents. We always refer to the sand around a lake as a "beach" and the sand along an ocean (Atlantic/Pacific) as a "beach" too We don't use "seashore" at all, but they might use that term on the east coast..
