Thread: Change category

    Default Change category

Currently this is what it says

Home & Garden > Washing machines & dryers

Now I would suggest that the following is there instead

Home & Garden > White Goods > Cookers > Gas
Home & Garden > White Goods > Cookers > Electric
Home & Garden > White Goods > Cookers > Dual fuel
Home & Garden > White Goods > Fridges
Home & Garden > White Goods > Freezers
Home & Garden > White Goods > Fridge Freezers
Home & Garden > White Goods > Tumble Dryers
Home & Garden > White Goods > Washing Machines
    Home & Garden > White Goods > Washer/dryers

Confusing, in US we don't use the term white goods when referring to appliances.

Probably moot point as none of us wants to buy a dryer or washer from UK, but white goods in US refers to linens, towels, and that sort of thing.

If you replace the term White Goods with Appliances will it work better internationally?

    Home & Garden > Appliances > Cookers > Gas
    Home & Garden > Appliances > Cookers > Electric
Home & Garden > Appliances > Cookers > Dual fuel
    Home & Garden > Appliances > Fridges
    Home & Garden > Appliances > Freezers
Home & Garden > Appliances > Fridge Freezers
Home & Garden > Appliances > Tumble Dryers
Home & Garden > Appliances > Washing Machines
    Home & Garden > Appliances > Washer/dryers

You will also need Home & Garden> Appliances> Dishwashers
    Home & garden> Appliances> Cookers> solid fuel
    Home & Garden> Appliances>Cookers> Other
(Other would cover Oil, Paraffin, Calor gas etc.)

Of course to pick at straws here, to US, it is STOVE, not cooker (and when you look at stove, it is sure a darn goofy word). its either stove or range.

Couldn't help but giggle. I've had problems with the differences in our "common" language.

It's one of the things that make these forums so much fun . . . figuring out what in the heck somebody in the UK is talking about.

brings a whole new meaning to "rolling a fag" in the US

and to save you pondering on the meaning this side of the pond it means "to make a hand made cigarette" "to roll a ciggy"
