There are several differences between FB and a forum.
Different folk to make new friends,
No censorship (within reason of course),
The photo albums are quite handy,
Loads of applications to have a laugh with if you want to,
Plenty of games and stuff to mess with (although I don't bother with them),
It's also brilliant for finding folk who you've lost contact with,
A massive audience to promote your auctions/business if you want,
A massive selection of groups to join,
Plus other stuff that I can't think of right now. FB is a brilliant tool for keeping in touch with family and friends all in one place, and a good place just to chill too.

I'm selective on who I add as a friend, I don't see the point of having 500+ on your friends list when you only actually know a handful of them. I have 101 on my friends list and they are all either family, folks I know in real life, or folks I know from the forums. About 10% are new friends that I made on FB.me- and i have 1 friend on there- and that is only because my darling daughter added me
