Its not the run until sold option so much as its the log in of the seller. This has been discussed before, since the log in is every 24 hours, sellers that don't log in within a certain amount of time should be notified and eventually, if no log in, auctions closed.

Don't be silly. You could never impliment that rule.

I am going away for 3 weeks soon. Would that mean that my auctions would be closed because I was unable to log in.

I routinely do that now if I buy from someone I either havent seen in the forums for a while, or they are a non forum member.

After all, we get an email to tell us when an item has a bid. They must have known two weeks ago that they did not have it. They could have told you long before now.

    That is very bad trading.
Good point. Well, a neg is in order although I realy hate leaving negs, but to dump and run is just wrong. Not feeling as cross now as have had a bag of wine gums

I'm really sorry that happened to you too, Ruthie. You could have been buying another set of the same books FROM A DIFFERENT SELLER if this rude person had had the courtesy of being honest about their stock. You're not out the money but you are out considerable time with emails, feedback and hunting that you thought netted you a prize but didn't.

Hope the wine gum took you to happy land.

I don't think the selling option (Auction or Run Until Sold) has anything to do with it. The seller gets notified immediately when there's a sale of either type. It may be true the "dump and run" sellers use Run Until Sold more often, but please don't attack those of us who prefer to use it. This has been discussed before, and several of us listed valid reasons for not using the Auction format.

This seller absolutely should get a negative feedback. I seem to remember reading somewhere that eBid will ban members after repeated offenses, and the feedback is the only way they know about it.

Another auction site I sell on did exactly that to me. I received an email stating that I had not logged on for 3 weeks and to sign in and 'show my presence' otherwise they will close all my auctions (not my registration) on the understanding that I am not interested any more. It was an oversight on my part as I had such a hectic period, I totally forgot to sign in (I normally do every 2 or 3 days).
