Just out of interest - ............
Say, for example, my way of ''enjoying my property'' was by playing fairly loud music, wouldnt someone constantly complaining about it prevent this happening?
Cant it happen both ways?
Lets face it - silence is loud - VERY loud.
To be honest, my idea of ''terrible neighbours'' (as per the title of the thread), would be someone that was constantly telling me to be quiet!
O.K. I think it's time I told you all a little of where I'm at and coming from. (if that makes any sense.)
I have zero tolerance for a lot of things that go on in this world.
I realize that this makes me look rabid and hysterical.
If you live in a nice house and on a nice street or estate, your lucky.
A lot of us live on the sharp end and therefore our perceptions are totally different
to those of you who 'occasionally' see or come up against a situation.
I see 'stuff' every single day.
I live broadside to a terraced street that telescopes into the distance, across intersections
and up to a tee junction about half a mile or more away.
All the properties along this road are private rented, Loads of them have for sale signs outside them as 'Private Landlords' (another of my pet hates) try to bail out of the market.
Within the confines of this scene are one 'KNOWN' crack house - at least one cannibis farm if my nose is not mistaken, and the homes of know drug addicts, gangsta's and burglars. looking out of the window right now I can see women, young girls & men congregating and drinking cheap cider, wine and lager. They are gathered on someone's doorstep. that's exactly between the crack house and the cannibis farm. That in itself makes it intimidating just to walk the street. (Gotta go that way to the post office!) Litter abounds. Along this street I have seen assaults (one time nearly a full blown riot) Things have got a little quieter with the introduction of CCTV. It hasn't gone away and simmers just below the surface. And just like a volcano you can feel the tensions in the street ebb and flow.
I think I'm entitled to my opinions!

Hmmm, just to throw my hat into the affray
I used to live in a detached farm house in the middle of a field and loved nothing better than to blast my music out at all hours of the day and night...
I now live in a semi-detatched house in a small village square and, as any well mannered and considerate person would, I have turn the volume control down very very low and if I feel the need to listen to something loudly I put my earphones on...
Compromise is becoming as rare as common sense in this day and age....

I adore the sound of the birds, the wind, neighbours pottering in their gardens, children laughing, etc
I detest other peoples music. What makes you thinks that others have your taste or passion for it. If you love it great, but why not wear headphones. Infact, what is boils down to that I will never understand is why some people simply ignore other peoples right to privacy, peace and stressless enviroment within their own homes.
Personally, I would cringe if I thought anything I or my family, dog included may be annoying someone else.
