A far more unlikely scenario than being burgled by a local thief.

    1. They would have to see your notice.
    2. They would need to have your address from a previous transaction.
    3. They would have to know the property is actually going to be empty.
    4. They would have to know that the security measures made it easier to break into your house than another.
    5. They would have to believe the returns would make it worth travelling from their location to yours.

Quite honestly the majority of thieves are not that bright and their small brains would have melted long before they figured that lot out. They are opportunistic in the main and operate in their local area.

If you hold the kind of stock that would attract 'professional' thieves then you shouldn't really be keeping it in your back bedroom uninsured.

Methinks you are being a tad paranoid.

I think I've just spotted a new business opportunity, researching absent sellers for lazy thieves.

(Since I've never thought of an original business niche in my life, I have to assume that somebody, somewhere is already doing this! )

I would have thought it prudent to insure any stock regardless of value and location, not just in case of theft, but also in case of fire, flood, etc

Our property doesn't show up on google earth very well so that wouldn't help them.
As for holidays what are they.
If for any reason we are all away then someone in the village would be keeping an eye on things for us.

I only own three things of any value: my motorhome, my laptop, and my camera. When I go away, I have all three with me. Any burglars visiting this place would probably assume I'd already been done.

That made me laugh out loud

My flat is so disorganised....a burglar wouldn't be able to find anything to nick here...unless they have a thing about empty cardboard boxes and smelly socks

O/H insists on removing all the hard drives so they go with us and if youngest had his way he would take his machines with him.

Replace socks with, for some reason, empty jam jars, and that's pretty much home-sweet-home.

I'm sure there's a good reason for the little collection of jam jars forming on the stairs, and one day it will come to me, but meanwhile they're doing no harm.

You know the minimalist look is all in now.
Do any online sellers ever manage it??

I know with 100% certainty I never will
