Default Buyer has different ebid email/address from Paypal email/postal address-where to send

A buyer has just purchased a nice, new Wimbledone tote bag that I bought a few years back and never used. The buyer is located in the US and has one address and email on Ebid in the AAL and a different postal address/email in the Paypal account. Where should I send the package? I don't want to ship it to the wrong address and the buyer "claims" not to have received it (when she has) because I sent it to the wrong address. Who would be liable in such a case? I don't want to be sceptical but have had a couple of unfortunate experiences in the past and have learned the hard way. I don't think I have had two different addresses/emails before.

One address is for the state of Nebraska (midwest USA) and the other is for Rhode Island (the east coast area-New England) and I am not assuming which one is the more recent one in case there has been a house move.

All the items I am selling are from personal purchases made that I never used or from overblown collections that I want to downsize. So each sale is a triumphant for me in my attempts to declutter and to get back as much money that I spent unwisely.

What is the policy when there are two conflicting addresses and emails listed?

I'm presuming you have contacted the buyer to ask which address to send to,so all I can suggest is that you wait for their reply.

I would email the buyer and point this problem out and verify which address to send to. You should be able to do this from your after auction log go to the drop down menu and select ask a question.

If Item was paid with Paypal that is the address to send it. If they want it sent to a different address you should refund payment and ask for it again with correct address.

Never look at ebid address as the payment address is always the newest, the buyer has to OK to make payment.

I have found it to be the opposite. They sign up on eBid and use their most recent address. Many forget about changing their address on PayPal. An email to the buyer asking them which is their correct address should do the trick. This will also remind them that they need to change their address on PayPal.

I have never had that problem. Most of my sales are new to eBid. Some have old addresses in PayPal. I double check and all fix the address in PP.
Why would someone pay for an item and give a fake address?

I have sent an email to the buyer requesting address clarification- Ebid or Paypal address for shipping - and as it's only been a few hours since payment was made and the time difference is either 5 hours for the east coast of the US or 7 hours for mid-America, it will probably be a little while I guess before I get a reply. I like to send items off as quickly as possible but will have to wait until I get a response from buyer. Many thanks for your advice.

Always ask, never ship until you make sure. And ask for an explaination, that is quite a move of house, half way across the country. You want to make sure the account did not get hacked. If anything in answer seems wrong or off, question it and don't mail until settled.

PP changes seem to take forever to make change, months sometimes so I would not assume they were right (even though PP says it will not cover you if item lost and not sent to address etc).

Good for you to notice the inconsistency. Make sure to keep a copy of both, just in case there is a problem.

    My advice is as follows...
Don't assume that the person who registered the eBid account and the owner of the PayPal account are the same person. Send a message to the e-mail address of the PayPal account holder asking them if they authorized the payment for the item (give them the eBid URL and item #). If they say yes, ship. If you get no reply, send another message to the e-mail address of the eBid buyer (or through eBid) asking them to contact you using the e-mail address of the PayPal account holder. If the buyer refuses or makes excuses, don't ship. There are simply too many ways to commit fraud by bringing a third party into a transaction, and PayPal always sides with buyers. There are no valid excuses why a person has to use someone else's PayPal account.

I’ve had quite a few lately with differing addresses and after sending emails pointing this out to the Buyer have had several who had moved and forgot to change the PP address, one who uses her PP for her business aswell and so had the business address showing for PP and another who had signed up for Ebid whilst working away for several months and didn’t want it going to their permanent address. There are many reasons why the two don’t tally up and usually an email t the Buyer will clear this up. I always check the email address too and if they differ will send the same email to both addresses just in case, as someone else says, an account has been hijacked.
