How do you tell real from fake?

Hello. I'm interested in collecting a few coins as they do not take up much room. Awhile ago I read that there is alot of fake coins reproduced. Is there any way of telling? Or does one just buy from established sellers? Sure does not give any new coin sellers much of a chance. Is there any paticular year or coins one should give a wide berth? Thanks for any insight.

Thanks for that link. I have it bookmarked now. I always thought old coins were worth alot of money and could not understand the really cheap prices some have. I've given it a quick read but I see alot of information there. Good stuff.

Why would you even bother to post a helpfull link is beyond me. Also I have never traded with you before. Nor will I now. Perhaps you do sell fake items.

This is another reason why I do not like imported feedback. Let the sellers make it honestly here so one knows who they are dealing with.

Was just going to say the same. Stay clear of any Chinese dealers as the majority of fakes come from China. And remember--if it seems too good to be true--it probably is!!

Thanks Poppa. Maybe their feedback isn't imported. I do not know. I was just going to give them a sale for being helpful. I'm no coin collector really but thought I might start.
