When I was doing my test I actually got marked down for doing 65 on the bypass, even though the examiner commented that it was probably better for the environment etc, but they wanted me to demonstrate that I could drive competently at 70

I'd report the examiner - isn't it illegal to do 70 (or 65, for that matter)anywhere other than a motorway and learner drivers aren't allowed on the motorway. I'd get right back to them and demand the points they knocked off be added back onto your overall score or you're going to the papers with the story. eBidder loses points for refusing to break the law - front page, big headline.

It's a lovely idea, but 70 is the national maximum for dual-carriageways, not just motorways.
